Organizationally, and based on the already commented lines / work objectives of the group and the challenges described, the group activity is designed as follows:

  1. Active Learning Methodologies: Dr. Torres has extensive experience in the work, design and analysis of the PLEs (being the subject of his PhD thesis). The objective is that both methodologies and strategies are modeled based on the location of education (online, face-to-face or blended models), its scope of development and student profile. A PLE can incorporate social elements through the participation of the individual in distributed environments so that they learn to create and manage their PLNs favoring their continuous learning and the construction of a personal digital fingerprint, the basis of their digital identity. In response to the highly technological and changing educational environment. Drs. Iriondo and Montero are specialists in strategies that help students to develop academic competencies for growth and personal maturity (Academic Advising & Coaching), providing a new approach that together with the analysis of data should allow for the improvement of the organization of undergraduate and master's studies. Related to these two lines an Erasmus + project is being finalized in cooperation with schools in France and Italy, and a project supported by Aristos Campus Mundus with the University of Deusto focused on coaching analysis, two examples that show the potential of this line and possible future work.
  2. Visual and Interactive technologies. Hybrid Methods. Drs. Villagrasa and Navarro have read their doctoral theses in this field (2016 and 2017), in which they are educational experts and are still working nowadays. The objectives of the new period focus on working with 3D rendering systems both physical (using 3D printing) and digital (using Augmented and Virtual Reality with Oculus, HTC or CardBoards devices, which are much more accessible), and hybrids (work with Data in different formats that are juxtaposed in the same representational level: AR / VR and 360 images and videos). Teaching, practicing with 3D models and locations, and with interactive/hybrid systems are basic skills that educators and students need to have mastered. Using PBL approaches and ending with the use of a wide range of technologies, such as mobile and wearable devices, tabletop System technology and video game engines that optimize the rendering and visualization of 3D space. In this field, one of the objectives of the group is to continue with the current project funded by the Ministry of Education and Competitiveness (2016-2020) and continue increasing the scientific production (especially in the field of Architecture studies). In addition, we are designing the creation of a Laboratory in two contexts (virtual and face-to-face) for the teaching and practice of subjects using these technologies and that enable to measure the student's experience.
  3. Social STEAM. Through the use of STEAM, Dras. Jurado and Necchi intend to continue promoting cooperative learning and activate social interaction mechanisms using: Robotics as a motor of learning and social interaction in pre-university teaching environments (from primary to cycles); and BIM (Building Information Modeling) systems in university technical branches (such as Architecture, Engineering and even Animation, where we can define the use of STEAM as a training vector in art history and expressive artistic language through the use of technology). In this line, a project funded by La Salle Catalunya is currently active and includes robotics in classrooms, with a first pilot being conducted in 2016-17, with the aim of expanding it to the whole network of schools (22) over the next three years.
  4. Learning / Academic analytics & User eXperience (UX): as established before, the objective of this line is to support the rest by analyzing and interpreting data. Drs. Fonseca (as IP of the group) and Canaleta (as Vice Dean for Educational Innovation and Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Teacher Training) will coordinate data mining and management using approaches such as improvement of the educational process, Learning Analytics, and usability and accessibility analysis), and the improvement of Academic Analytics. This line, in addition to supporting ongoing and future projects, is directly linked to the current thesis of Prof. Peña, Simón, Labrador, Valls, or Alsina, who, based on the current state of various academic programs and / or subjects intend to establish predictive models of data that allow their modification and adaptation for the improvement in teaching quality.
