The International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) together with the SynSIG group organized the 8th Speech Synthesis Workshop (SSW8), which was held in Barcelona from August, 31 to September, 2 2013 in Barcelona (Spain). The most recent advances related to speech synthesis technology were presented and discussed in this workshop, which is celebrated every three years. During the three days of this workshop different research works were introduced, distributed in 3 keynotes, 6 oral sessions, 3 poster sessions and 1 demo session. A total of 51 regular papers were presented together with 4 demos.
La Salle R&D introduced the European FET project EUNISON to the speech synthesis research community with a spreading article entitled “Unified numerical simulation of the physics of voice. The EUNISON project”. The first preliminary results of the project were showed during the demo session. Below in the picture, you can see from left to right Francesc Alías (member of SSW8 Organizing Comittee and EUNISON's WP8 leader), Oriol Guasch (EUNISON's Scientific Coordinator and WP5 leader) and Marc Arnela from La Salle R&D, who attended the conference during the demo session.
